Fencing is a minority sport. Historically, very few children had the opportunity to experience our sport at school level. Universities, the military and clubs would give a privileged few the chance to experience fencing. Generally though, there was very little opportunity for the general public to access fencing lessons.
In more recent years, an increasing number of children have had the opportunity to get a taste of swordplay through school clubs, holiday play schemes, sports centres and activity holidays. This still leaves a vast number of people with little access to our sport.
We are here to change that.
At Gloucester Fencing Club we understand that there are those who may wish to try fencing for a while to see if it is something that may interest them long term. That is why we offer our short introductory courses. These six week courses are run three times a year. Each course is designed to give new members a feel for our sport without tying them down to long term, expensive memberships or costly purchases of equipment. Currently, our courses cost just £45.00 This is inclusive of coaching and the use of club equipment.
Although this is a stand alone course, we would love you to stay longer and continue to immerse yourself into the fascinating world of swordplay. The full multi- weapon experience is available here at Gloucester Fencing Club.
